Day 144 - August 28, 2010

Today we started the day by going to THE Seinfeld diner! It was pretty neat to see the outside, but the inside was completely different from the show. I guess they used a different diner inside for filming! Anyway, we had breakfast there and, though it was lackluster, it was still an experience. After that Christie and I found a geocache (basically without Gizmo since geocaching in the city is tough) and discoved a neat bookstore, Book Culture. We chatted with a few of the workers for a bit and then met back up with the rest of the crew (they were checking out a nearby church). We all then went to the Imagine memorial in Central Park where we took pictures, and after that we split up into smaller groups. Brooke, Christie and I visited Jamba Juice (Brooke's first!) and then went to Moo Shoes (I bought two pairs; Christie one) and Babycakes bakery which are right near each other! Brooke then left to go to Times Square to meet up with the other girls while C and I went back to our hostel to refrigerate our baked goods and to rest up before dinner with Susan and Bob. In the evening we went to Candle Cafe where we had a delicious vegan feast and did not hold back. Susan had a seitan sandwich, I had a taco salad ($20!), and Christie and Bob each had fantastic vegan lasagna as big as their heads... combined! After that we had dessert... C and I got a chocolate mousse cake, Susan got peach pie a la mode, and Bob got banana cake - all were delicious (no surprises there!). After we said farewell C and I took the subway to Rockefeller Center with the hope of doing Top of the Rock - it was way too expensive so we just wandered around for a while and then headed back to the hostel. A lovely day!
