Day 279 - January 10, 2011

Today is Day #1 of a cleanse that Christie and I are doing, as suggested in Quantum Wellness by Kathy Freston. We are doing our first one for only five days, but we're hoping to build up (eventually) to 21 days. There are five fundamentals:
No animal products
No sugar, except fruit or naturally occuring sweeteners
No caffeine
No gluten
No alcohol

No gluten and no caffeine will be challenging, but we know it is definitely doable. We are going to start each day with a Green Monster (more info) to get a huge dose of delicious fruits and veggies, and flax!
The Green Monster recipe we're using contains: 
1/2 cup frozen blueberries... 
1 tablespoon flaxseeds... 
1 banana... 
1 cup unsweetened almond milk...
1 cup fresh spinach... 
1/2 cup fresh kale... 
All blended together (with a few ice cubes) to Green Monster perfection! 
There are many different kinds of Green Monsters out there, so we're excited to keep on trying new recipes. :) 

Try one! They will definitely put a spring in your step!
